European Design Awards

The European Design Awards celebrate outstanding work across the full spectrum of communication design from branding, typography, editorial and illustration, to digital design, motion, independent projects, and context-driven work.

For 2026, the category framework has been carefully revised and refined. This update is the result of an extensive consultation process that included detailed feedback from past participants, jury members and partners, one-to-one conversations with designers, educators, editors and studio founders across Europe.

New categories have been introduced while several existing categories have been clarified to reduce overlap and ambiguity. At the same time, the Awards’ long-standing categories have been retained, ensuring continuity while offering greater flexibility for hybrid and multidisciplinary work.

The aim is a category structure that more accurately reflects how design is conceived, produced, and applied today and that helps designers present their work in the most appropriate and meaningful context.
