Eeva Sivula’s Works with Paper Exhibition

AD and graphic designer Eeva Sivula presents a delicate series of collage works at Luonnos, exploring the intersection of art and visual communication design. The “Works with Paper” exhibition will be displayed at Luonnos from January 19th to February 18th, 2024. Opening on Thursday, January 18, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Welcome!

Eeva Sivula’s Works with Paper Exhibition consists of two series of collage works: “Covers & Pages” and “Lines & Grids.” The pieces are crafted using an intuitive working method by cutting, unfolding structures, intertwining, and readjusting materials. “Chance, error, roughness, and imperfection are recurring themes in my work,” says Eeva Sivula.

Sivula paints new lines and landscapes using old materials, uncovering new meanings through chance and abstraction. The faded appearance and original purposes of materials like books, tapes, and archival papers slowly lose clarity. Typography, a dear element to Sivula, remains present but often on the flip side – translucent or unseen.

Eeva Sivula finds an intrinsic link between crafting collages and her work as an AD and graphic designer: “Composition, the quest for form, colour exploration, and the role of chance is fundamental to my work. I actively listen to the client, follow the brief, and strive to organise information in an understandable and aesthetically pleasing way.
