The call is open to diverse creators and teams in the field of visual communication and designThe name “Luonnos” (Finnish for sketch or draft) reflects the open-minded fearlessness, diversity, and creativity the space aims to share – even incompleteness is allowed. We aim to spark timely discussions and create a space that showcases the broad spectrum of visual communication and creative design in Finland. This annual call is open to everyone, including professionals and students. We encourage applications from individuals of different ages and backgrounds. Exhibition Call 2025 A total of five to six exhibitions will be selected for Luonnos’s 2025 exhibition program. The curators for the Luonnos 2025 exhibition call are Janine Rewell, Tino Nyman, and Eeva Sivula. Selected applicants will be notified personally in September. All exhibition applications must be submitted through the electronic application system. Late, incomplete, or externally submitted applications will not be considered. If you are also participating in Grafia’s summer grant call, please note that you cannot receive both a grant and exhibition time from Grafia in the same year. You can apply for exhibition time individually or with a group. Grafia membership is not required, and the exhibition call is open to everyone. However, non-Grafia members will be charged a 1000 euro exhibition service fee per exhibition. If you are applying for exhibition time as a group, it is enough that one group member is a Grafia member to receive the benefit. If you wish to become a Grafia member, you can submit a membership application during the exhibition call period. Mention in the membership application that you have applied for exhibition time from Luonnos. Exhibition time at Luonnos can be awarded at most every three years. Grafia pays a 300 euro copyright fee per exhibition. Completing the Exhibition Application 2025 In the application, present the exhibition concept and an outline of the installation plan. The application should clearly indicate the exhibition’s connection to the field of visual communication design. Explain why the exhibition would be a good fit for Luonnos. Include a preliminary work plan, the resumes of the applicants, and images and details of the works. You can apply for the exhibition with both new and old works. The application can be completed in either Finnish or English. In the application, mention if you are also applying the same exhibition idea to another exhibition space in Finland. Specify the costs related to the exhibition as clearly and realistically as possible. Note that the exhibitor is responsible for the exhibition works’ material, production, and transportation costs. Grafia provides the most common tools and equipment for installation, but materials and equipment requiring special structures or attachments must be acquired by the exhibitor. The exhibitor will not be reimbursed for travel, accommodation, or other similar expenses related to the arrangements. The exhibitor is responsible for installing the exhibition with the Luonnos producer. At the end of the exhibition, the applicant is responsible for dismantling the exhibition and restoring the exhibition space. The applicant commits to supervising the exhibition for one weekend (Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 4PM). Grafia is also interested in organising events related to the exhibition content (e.g., workshops, lectures, performances) with the exhibitor. The applicant is also responsible for insuring the works if necessary. A person is always supervising the space during the exhibition’s open hours. Grafia does not charge a commission on any works sold during the exhibition.
