G-Rex: Grafia’s street art & murals

The Grafia Street Art Guild strives to promote graphic art and illustration in urban spaces. The guild brings together designers and illustrators among Grafia members who are interested in urban art.

The objective of the Street Art Guild launched in 2014 is to be an active player in raising the profile of mural art in Finland. It promotes mural culture and offers alternatives to commercial images in urban landscapes. Through the symbiosis of urban art, graphic design and illustration, the guild has a positive impact on the public visibility and values of these sectors. You can become a member if you are a member of Grafia.

Friends of Posters

The Friends of Posters Guild promotes poster design and aims to bring together the best forces in the field for debate and action. The key objective is to develop and provide professional and financial support for the activities of the Lahti International Poster Triennial and Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva. Keeping up with international poster design trends and global cooperation are an intrinsic part of the activities of the Friends of Posters Guild.

The Friends of Posters was founded in 2006 as an association, and its activities have continued as Grafia’s Friends of Posters Guild since the start of 2015. Malva (formerly the Lahti Poster Museum) has organised the Lahti Poster Biennial 19 times since 1975 in cooperation with Grafia and the Friends of Posters. In 2014, the event became a triennial and is one of the world’s leading poster exhibitions. The event brings together Finnish and international poster designers, and the members of the triennial’s high-level international jury lecture in the sector’s educational establishments in connection to their jury work.

Grafia members can join the guild and get involved in developing Finnish poster design and the international activities and interaction in the sector.

Book Designers’ Guild

Book design is a traditional yet modern industry. There are many graphic designers in Finland who illustrate books as their main job. The Book Designers Guild was established in 2019. It provides opportunities for designers to meet, hold discussions and get inspired together.

Our aim is to organise one major event each year with an international guest speaker. Furthermore, we organise smaller meetings, office visits and training for our guild members. We also work to raise awareness of book design among a wider audience.

The guild’s activities are aimed especially at graphic designers for whom book design is a significant part of their work, but all members of Grafia who are interested in book design are welcome to participate.

Above all, the purpose of the Motion Graphics Guild is to bring creators together and create a community where you can share information and get to know other Grafia members who work with motion graphics and animation and who are interested in it. Any member of Grafia can join the guild, regardless of whether they have knowledge of motion graphics and animation or not.
