Grafia’s Grant Call 2026

In Grafia’s grant application round, applications for both project and working grants can be submitted from June 30 to August 31, 2026. Online information session about grants will be held on Thursday, August 13th, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Register in advance!

Both project and working grants will be awarded. On the application form, you must indicate whether you are applying for a grant for your work or project expenses. The grants are funded through copyright compensation distributed by Kopiosto, with a total of up to €150,000 available.

Project grants are awarded to cover project-related costs. These may include, for example, exhibition or printing costs, compensation for subcontracted work, or expenses related to research in the field of visual communication. The main focus is on supporting production-based projects. The project grant is tax-free for the recipient.

Working grants are awarded for periods of 1 to 3 months, at a rate of €2,200 per month. You can apply for a working grant, for example, for book or exhibition projects, or research in the field. Working grants are not awarded to groups, companies, or organisations; however, members of such entities may apply for personal grants. Working grants are not available to full-time students or retirees. In the grant application system, indicate the total amount applied for in the “Budget” section. Specify the number of months in the “Detailed costs” section. Grafia will report grants exceeding the insurance threshold to Mela.

The grant application must include a work plan, work samples, and a curriculum vitae.

Grafia membership is not required to apply, as long as the project is deemed valuable from Grafia’s perspective. However, we hope that the applicant has assigned a Kopiosto authorisation to Grafia. You can assign the authorisation via Kopiosto’s electronic authorisation service.

Grafia grants can be awarded to an individual or group at most every other year. A previously awarded grant must be reported before a new one can be received. Read more about Grafia grants here!

Please note: If you also applied to the Luonnos open call, Grafia will not grant both in the same year.

Application period: June 30 – August 31, 2026
Type of grant: Project or working grant
Grant committee: TBA

Grafia Grant Info: August 13th, 14:00-15:30 via Google Meet

Tips for writing a successful grant application:

  • Take time to familiarise yourself with the grant provider and the instructions.
  • Explain who you are, what you are doing, and why — the evaluator does not know you or your project in advance.
  • Describe how the project contributes to the field of visual communication and why Grafia should support it.
  • A good application is written clearly and concisely in plain language. Length does not improve quality. A good application conveys enthusiasm.
  • Include work samples if you are applying for a grant for a visual project.
  • Allow enough time to prepare your application.
